"See you at The Studio!"

Ballet at The Studio

Ballet at The Studio is taught from the syllabus of the Vaganova method.  This method of classical ballet training was founded by Agrippina Vaganova, in St. Petersburg, Russia.  She fused elements of French, Italian, and other methods as well as influence from other Russian dancers and teachers into a precise technique and system of instruction.  This method assists the student in the development of lower back strength and arm plasticity, as well as the requisite strength, flexibility and endurance for ballet.

Our ballet curriculum includes classes in nutrition and kinesiology (the study of human movement), taught by a registered nurse, that are designed to support the developing dancer.  Pilates is integrated into the dance curriculum to allow dancers to develop the strong core, stable back and shoulders, and balanced muscle structure to support classical ballet technique.  Our certified Pilates faculty teaches a unique program for adolescent and adult students to apply traditional mat and equipment exercises to their ballet technique. Yoga is also a required part of The Studio curriculum for dancers. Studying yoga enhances ballet technique through the study of body and space awareness while also providing flexibility and strength training. Dancers also benefit from the calming study of self.

Students at The Studio have the opportunity to enhance their skills with classes in Character, and Pas de Deux, as well as workshops in ballroom and modern dance.

The Studio Cooperative trains its students to the highest standards of excellence in all disciplines regardless of whether they seek a professional career or study dance as a source of enjoyment and recreation.  We also understand that children, young adults, and adults have unique personalities that require different teaching approaches. Advancement through the syllabus at The Studio Cooperative is based on objective ability requirements for each level and subjective staff recommendations. All students receive individualized progress reports at the end of each term.
